Scott Alan Thayer, 58, of Springfield IL, passed peacefully away at his home, with his family around him, on December 21, 2012 ending his struggle with lung cancer.
Scott was born Flint, Michigan, on April 27th 1954, by his parents James Henry Thayer and Patricia Jean Syster. Scott was an employee of the United States Postal Service for 30 years and attended the First Pentecostal Church of Springfield. He was an avid cyclist, marksman and audiophile.
He is survived by his two sons, Dustin Scott Thayer of Springfield and Spencer James Thayer of Chicago; his father, James Henry Thayer of Oceanside, CA; his two siblings, Steve Alan Thayer and Jeannie Thayer-Seitz; and his ex-wife, Barbara Oglesby.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in the name of Scott Thayer to the World Wildlife Fund, P.O. Box 97180, Washington, DC 20090-7180.
